MAM Master and MAM Investor Definition
What is a MAM Master?
A MAM account allows a professional trader or money manager to manage multiple trading accounts simultaneously from a single interface. The MAM Master account is the main account held by the trader or money manager, and it has the ability to allocate trades to multiple sub-accounts.
The MAM Master account provides various functions and advantages, including:
- Trade Allocation: The MAM Master account allows the trader or money manager to allocate trades to different sub-accounts based on specific parameters, such as percentage allocation, lot size, or equity ratio.
- Simultaneous Trading: The MAM Master account enables the trader to execute trades across multiple sub-accounts simultaneously, ensuring that all managed accounts receive the same trade at the same time.
- Performance Fees: With a MAM Master account, money managers can charge performance fees based on the profits generated by the managed accounts.
- Reporting and Monitoring: The MAM Master account provides comprehensive reporting and monitoring tools that allow money managers to track the performance of the sub-accounts, generate reports, and analyse trading activity.
To become an MAM Master, you must complete and sign a Global Money Manager Application.
What is a MAM Investor?
A Multi-Account Manager (MAM) Investor account is a sub-account that is linked to a MAM Master account. The MAM Investor account is used by individual traders or investors who want their trading activity to be managed by a professional trader or money manager.
Here are some key points about MAM Investor accounts:
- Sub-Account: A MAM Investor (Slave) account is a subsidiary account created under the MAM Master account. It is linked to the master account and receives trade allocations from the master account.
- Trade Allocation: Trades executed by the MAM Master account are automatically distributed among the MAM Investor accounts based on the allocation settings specified by the money manager or trader. The trade allocation can be based on various factors, such as percentage allocation, lot size, or equity ratio.
- Mirroring Trades: The MAM Investor account mirrors the trades executed on the MAM Master account in real-time. This ensures that the trading activity of the money manager or professional trader is replicated in the MAM Investor account.
- Independent Balances: Although the MAM Investor account receives trades from the MAM Master account, it maintains its own independent balance. This means that profits, losses, and account equity are specific to each individual MAM Investor account.
- Reporting and Monitoring: MAM Investor account holders can access reporting and monitoring tools to track the performance of their individual accounts. They can review trade history, account balances, profit/loss statements, and other relevant information.
MAM Investor (Slave) accounts offer individual traders the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of professional money managers or traders without having to actively manage their own trades. It allows for diversification and the potential for generating profits based on the performance of the MAM Master account.
To be set up as an Investor (Slave) MAM, you must sign a TA (Trading Authority) authorising a Money Manager (MAM) to view account information and trade on your behalf.
