Log files are detailed text files (.log extension) that contain diverse information such as details on starting the terminal, placing, and removing orders, errors, warnings, installing indicators and situations related to Expert Advisors, setting up a server connection, and more. It is like the "Journal tab" of the MT4, but with more detail. This data can be useful when examining how your orders were executed in more depth.

To reach and download Log Files from the desktop MT4 terminal, follow the below steps:

1. Launch the terminal.
2. Click on ‘File,’ then select ‘Open Data Folder’
3. You will then be able to see the Logs folder.

Please note: Every day has a separate log file, so you need to select the one you are looking for.

IMPORTANT: To get the Log Files for an Expert Advisor you can follow the above steps, however after the “Open Data Folder” step you will need to select “MQL4” and then “Logs”.
